F. W. Sims worked with the MTA and the other trades on this project to assist in the design and ultimately the construction of the new Clifton Car Repair Shop, servicing cars for the Staten Island Railway. This was a design-build project with the MTA – a format uncommon in the New York construction market.

The scope of work consisted mainly of rooftop HVAC equipment providing heating, cooling, and ventilation to the new shop, along with extensive track exhaust systems and hydraulic systems to feed safety bollards throughout.
